Should be relatively simple… in the first one, it’s not a continuous zoom. The three “degrees” of the zoom… the closeup, the medium shot, and the wide… are actually three different shots taken from three different camera positions. You can tell that by the slight changes in relationship of the talent to the background, it’s not exactly the same at each stage.

So, the three shots were edited together, and a few frames of post-production zooming were added to the beginning of each shot beginning right at the edit point. The addition of motion blur to the zoomed frames (and the short duration of the zooms) masks both the edit and the fact that the resolution would be much lower at the beginning of the couple of “zoomed in” frames at each edit. Fairly easily done with most any editing platform, however the zooms would would especially well in After Effects since you could apply the motion blur that radiates out in the direction of the zoom.

    It’s well done.

The second one is a lot easier, it’s just a freeze-frame, and zooming in on the freeze in post (with different color grading on the freeze). That one doesn’t zoom in much, it just floats in a little, so there probably weren’t any resolution problems with zooming in on the still.

Similar to Stib’s zoom blur cross transition.
Search Stibs Transitions here on the cow or google. Follow instructions on how to install.
old set of free plugins, but still very useful.
