Well, my home version of Avid is 3.05. Sure when you convert everything on the import to whatever rez your drives will allow – you will get “homogeneous” editing environment. Which is the same as you actually achive through prores.

Just to clarify this
SONY XDCAM transfer plugin converts everything into XDCAM EX 1080p30 and I do not see any option to convert in ProRez in one pass, right? So your recommendation would be for the better editing performance to convert XDCAM into Pro Res with Compessor, as a second pass?
Everything else in my “video pile” I will convert to Pro Res 422. Any recommendations on uprezing DV? Any opinion on Magic Bullet Instant HD 1.1?

Making money on the documentary? That is funny.
I will stay in HD but it is the codecs experience XDCAM versus Pro Res I am not 1005 clear about.

Well, I’ve solved the problem. The mistake was in how I’ve applied the Vortex. I’ve been creating a layer then piling on different animations inside that layer and then applying the vortex. And nothing works this way. Here is how you do it. You create a layer with one element inside and then make a number of copies of that one original element and only afterwards apply the Vortex to the original #1 element. Now the Vortex will work and you can replace the copies with anything you want – graphics or animation.

Thanks a lot. It worked like a charm. Edges are crisp now. Appears there is no need to resave illustrator files as PDFs. When I’ve looked at the media list in my project all illustrator files have been named or converted to PDFs on the Motion export, so all I needed was to uncheck “fixed resolution” box.
