Shane wrote: “Needs to be 24″ for the full pixel to pixel display.” could it be a Dell 27″ like 2709W for @$850. I’m getting a new nehalem with the better ATI470 card. I plan to use this set up for a while but I have a few questions?

    can I run a 2nd 2709w off the 470 card? or do I need a 2nd graphics card???

would the 2709 with the Matrox convertor also be a good montitor for color grading with final cut pro/color? HOw about without the Matrox for less critical web delivery stuff?

Bob Zelin also mentioned a Panasonic TH42PH11UK 42″ plasma in another thread…could this actually be the main single computer monitor AND color grading monitor…the screen real estate might be nice???

any suggestions for a single (at first) good mac monitor for fcp???

just checked the apple page and this 17′ at 2.5mhs with 512 on the video card and firewire 800 seems like it might work???

are these specs good enough for prorez?

    thanks

thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that the Canon is avchd on a sd card and did seem to work today with “log and transfer” on my first gen mac book pro 1.83ghz intel core duo…it does play back pretty well but this was a quick test…and I certainly do not want to edit on this laptop.

I will look for an older or refurb imac with the 256meg video card.

I also was hoping the prorez would play back well from firewire 800 drives so I do not need a raid??? All my media has a backup with the original sd cards.

the final will be blu-ray and hd vimeo.

yep…my keyspan is from an avid but this is a fcp6 emergency set up just to get some analog stuff in on the Canopus ADVC110…no budget for aja with this.

I’m sorry, I did not make myself clear. I do know how to do the trims but I want to “preview” only one side of the preview. I’m having a difficult audio edit…so I want to preview the cut and be able to quickly change the each side to 0 to hear where the clicks are or to hear the sibilance.

I know you can change it in the settings on fc but it’s 4clicks and a menu just to get to the entry field…so my question is there a keyboard shortcut to get there or better yet to set each side to 0.

Here is where you can change it on an avid trim window and I belive there is a keyboard shortcut to jump right in to the left field box and then tab to the right box.
