I’m using a Panasonic AJ SD930. I think the folks who made the dubs accidentally copied black over the video track. Nice.

Luckily, the problem is over – the company sent over digitized files so now I don’t have to bother with the tapes!

Only after 4 hours of sweating it…

Thanks for all the suggestions and help!

Yes, I mean Log and Capture. It’s black, not preview disabled. and the timecode is running.

At this point I think it is an issue with the deck. My FCP (v.6) is able to control the deck, I’m just not seeing anything in the Capture Scratch window.

    Thanks for the tip.
I changed the setting, but I still can’t see anything in my Capture Scratch window…

  • Yes! It worked.
    Thanks!

  • Thanks so much, I’ll give it a try!

  • I’m actually on a Mac, so am not looking to be compatible with PC. But will the software on that link help solve my problem and allow me to load a file larger than 4GB on the flash drive?

    Thanks!

    OK.

    System: 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Intel, Memory – 4 GB 800 MHz
    FCP: 6.0.6
    Footage: 720 x 480 DV/DVCPRO
    Sequence Settings: 720 x 480 NTSC DV (3:2), Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC – CCIR 601 DV(720×480), Field Dominance – Lower, Compressor – DV/DVCPRO-NTSC at 100% quality

The footage is for a video artist’s installation, so it’s not so straight forward to look at (i.e. no faces or anything recognizable). So a screen grab wouldn’t tell you a lot… hope that makes sense.

Thanks so much for all your help!

One clip looks great! Why can’t it look that good with all 4??
