  • where is DVCPRO NTSC?

Posted by Vanessa Shaw on November 17, 2010 at 9:02 pm

I’m working on a job where they gave me 3 DVC PRO50 NTSC tapes. I have a rented deck to work with, but I can’t seem to set up my Log and Capture so that I can see the footage.

What should my capture settings be? I don’t see DVCPRO NTSC, just PAL.

    Thanks!!

Instead of DVCPro50 you may be getting “DV50” in your codecs list.
About DVCPro(25), in NTSC-land, is the same than plain DV.

    Thanks for the tip.
I changed the setting, but I still can’t see anything in my Capture Scratch window…

    Use the EASY SETUP

    Choose format: NTSC
    Choose framerate 29.97
    Click on formats.

Which one do you see? Is it there? DV50 should be there.
Which FCP version do you have?

At this point I think it is an issue with the deck. My FCP (v.6) is able to control the deck, I’m just not seeing anything in the Capture Scratch window.

    Vanessa,
In the Capture Window> Capture Settings Tab> Capture?Imput, you should get all the Capture Presests.
If the DV50/DVCPro50 isn’t there, duplicate the DV-NTSC Capture Preset and (Edit) change the codec by DV50.

    Capture scratch?
You mean log and capture window.

Is the capture window black or does it say ‘preview disabled’?

Your deck is connected through firewire? Any other firewire devices connected?

Yes, I mean Log and Capture. It’s black, not preview disabled. and the timecode is running.

    DV50 NTSC 48K

-should be the preset you need.
