100 Euros a day here in Munich. Retail about 6500 US $.
Just plug it in and you’re always safe – especially from gamut errors.

Don’t know. Purchased Commotion years ago and have updated to 4.1.
The other way is handwork in AE, but you can do masking and re-positioning layers underneath in FCP as well if you use RotoFX. Works in FCP and AE. Still not a perfect rotoscoper but close to how it should be.
If I remember it right AniMatte was 5000 $ to buy for AVID.
And Quantel Mirage was 1.000.000. I don’t know about Discreet’s Infernos….
Try to think of that :-))Greetings

Hi Dylan,
me again 🙂
The cloning ain’t possible in FCP as far as I know. Don’t know a plugin either. I do it in Commotion or AE. Masking is also very weak. I bought this plugin (https://www.silhouettefx.com/roto/) and it is close to AniMatte.
But are you in front of a real fast system ? Dual 2.5 plus Raid with 250MB+ throughput ?
That’s where it all ends. Speed.Greetings

Hi Charlie,
who is you guys ?
You’re not the only one coming from AVID to FCP and not the only one editing 35. And not the only one with experience 15 years up.
Besides that:
I thought this would be possible in FCP 5. That’s what I thought from the announcements: That us can see KK while editing. Maybe I’m wrong here. But I’ll check if I have FCP 5 in my suite. Do you own a copy already and can tell us more ?Greetings

Decompose in AVID or put the imported sequence through media manager in FCP (trim unused media). Both ways work, but I prefer to decompose in AVID.
Good idea to remove all audio levels/pans if you take audio with you from AVID to FCP.Greetings

I think Motion can be opened from AE like an external editor).
But – hey Christopher: Where did you find the adjustable font sizes ?Greetings

Hi Paul,
I don’t know as I digitize DBeta SDIwith embedded audio from a Sony. Sdconnect does de-embeddd the audio ’cause I monitor audio from SDconnect’s analog outputs while digitizing. But the digitizing itsels goes: DBeta SDIout – SDconnect SDIin – SDconnect SDIout – Decklink SDIin.
A fine thing is SDI legalizing in SDconnect. I can turn it off for digitizing and turn it on for playouts.
So I am always legal 🙂Greetings

Hi Paul,
I use it the other way: Only output – but this is working fine.
My DecklinkPro SDI-out goes to SDconnect SDI-in. SDconnect de-embedds the audio and the AES/EBU out from SDconnect goes thru a Finalizer to DigiBeta.
I’m having problems with Edit to Tape when I use SDconnect to control the DBeta and so I use RS-422 from Decklink.Greetings

Hi Adam,
strange thing with the Panasonic.
If it really doesn’t work you might try an SDconnect box ’cause it embedds/de-embedds SDI plus audio from evereywhere.. I don’t know how it’ll work for you, but maybe worth a try as they do a 15day evaluation program and a fantastic tech-support. I am happy with mine.

You need to turn on “record audio keyframes” in user settings. FCP forgets these settings when you had to trash preferences.
