Hi Michael, I was wondering what preview monitor setting you are changing? Is in in the desktops system preferences or in fcp itself in the system settingd of audio/video settings? I know that my video processing is set to render all YUV material in hight-precision YUV. also I can no longer play video when i set my video playback to> apple firewire ntsc (720×480) and set my external video to> off the timeline will not play it will freeze and I can here sound but the screen remains a still frame of wherever i started from, then once i stop th clip the viewer will show the frame I stoped on as a still image but again once i go to play the clip it will remain still with audio playing until i stop the video again. Anyones help at all the thank sincerly.Thank you.

Thanks Devra, Strange thing is my computer is also new, (only a year old) my monitors however are all hand-me-downs, but i did have the monitor hooked up and working fine, then i unhooked everything to move my computer and a little after i hooked it back up this problem occured, mybe something happened when I took them apart? but when I use my main desktop monitor for playback it orks find, but not when i use my 2nd monitor for a preview monitor. also the video again does come up when I go to show current but once i play the clip it goes to white and i get only sound, also i recall playing with multiclips and show multi angles when the problem occured, maybe that has something to do with it? and now recently when i played my timeline i noticed it was freezing and playing back very choppy, as if theres dropframes only theres not, and only on the computer monitor this happens, on my tv it plays smooth, any ideas what thats about? i havnt really looked into but i noticed it when i was exporting something in a rush to dvd so i didnt really look into if this is something i could fix but any help or info i appreciate. Thanks

I am having a similar problem with my FCP, when i use my preview monitor (view–>video playback–>cinema desktop fullscreen) the preview monitor is all white where my video should be yet the audio still plays and im seeing the playhead moving down the timeline. when i use my tv as the preview monitor (view–>video playback–>apple firewire NTSC 720×480) everything plays back fine no problems. I thought that this could be a problem with the resolution of the monitor but i have played back in the past on this monitor with no problems. but one day it just stoped when i was doing something with muilticlips, and also when using the computer screen as a preview monitor (view–>video playback–>cinema desktop fullscreen) when the screen comes up all white i go to view–>external video, i make sure that this is set to all frames, which it is and then if i click on show current, ansd the video will appear, but once i play the clip the screen goes to white and thats all i see, but i still hear the audio and the playhead moves in the timeline until i stop it and then it stays white until i once again go to show current.
