While I got your attention. Where’s the best reference guide to expressions. I use JJgiffords.coms tables but is there a more complete one somewhere?

There is a great chromo blur preset made for keying DV footage
https://support.thefoundry.co.uk/tutorial/dvchromablur/dvkeychromablur.ffx
(to use it, save it, in AE go to animation-apply animation preset, select the ffx file)
I use it everytime with great results

If you are experienced in expressions theres a tutorial by Dan Ebberts about the expression Noise
I haven’t tried apply it to anything but in the tutorial he states it’s great for “Natural effects like wind flowing through a field of grass or lilypads on a pond.” It sounds like it might be perfect.

I actually used that in a weather promo about our drought. What I did was took a photo of cracked dirt and photoshopped over the cracks and then used an animated mask to reveal the cracks. It may or may not work for what you are trying to do but when I added the sound of rumbling, metal crushing and a few other things it looked pretty good.

Hey Dan,
Thanks for the help. I had read your guide before I knew much about expressions and was pretty lost. I just got done reading through it again and it all made sense. Progress! It answered a lot of other questions I had too.
Thanks again,
