Hello Miranda and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum,

Rode, Senneheiser, Audio -Technica makes a spectrum of mics, from student grade to professional.

Sanken and DPA also make professional grade mics for video.

You’ll typically want at least two boom mics, a shotgun and a hypercardioid, but I suggest you buy the hypercardioid first, especially if you’ll be doing a lot of indoor recording.

I can do that (and thanks) but when I do the automation the top track remains turned down even though the track automation shows that track is turned up.

The audio is in dual mono, btw.

Wow, Roger,

Thanks for bringing this up. So it was in the headphones but had bypassed the actual recording?

How does THAT happen unless the interference was only on the unbalanced headphone circuit?

How could it get there without first hitting the mic input? Was the mic a balanced mic plugged into a balanced input?

HI Dan,

I don’t know of any VO folks that’ll work “on retainer. ” I get it your point.

I’m SAG-AFTRA and the only way we work that way is if we are hired as employees.

I’m guessing there’s not much of a chance you want that.

The other problem is that no one knows how much work you want done.

30 seconds one week, 40 hours next week. You don’t buy food or gas like that. What’s an equivalent way to work?

You might find someone on voices.com or voiceover.com, but I ‘d never take that deal for the above reasons.

Hello Casimir and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.,

You bring a very good point to the forum.

So the ME2 works, but the ME4 is sensitive to digital hash from the transmitter?

I have found similar problems with the Audio Technica microprint mics versus their larger lavs.

It would seem that the shielding on the ME4 is not as robust as it needs to be to prevail with the Rode. This could be for many reasons. One of which might be that cardioids require an opening behind the capsule to allow the sound to enter. That opening may also allow access to the electronics for incoming digital transmitter interference.

I would suggest trying a Countryman. B2D to see if it works any better.

I say this because I found that the Countryman B6 works with the AT System 10 digital wireless.

Please let us know what you find out. Meanwhile, I will pass this on to Sennheiser.

I use RX a lot for some things, but not this one.

My suggestion wold be to head to google to see if someone has a video doing what you need done, or throw yourself on the mercy of the iZotope staff and contact them to see if they can hook you up with one of their geniuses.
