  • Finding subscription based VO service online

Posted by Dan Rohrer on June 14, 2016 at 1:31 pm

I’m having more trouble than I anticipated finding a VO service online that is monthly/yearly subscription based and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I am looking for a service that has voice talent options that my company can pay a flat monthly or yearly fee versus paying per VO needed, which is mostly what I am finding. I need services for a mixture of internal and external training videos approx 2 minutes in length on average. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Dan

    HI Dan,

I don’t know of any VO folks that’ll work “on retainer. ” I get it your point.

I’m SAG-AFTRA and the only way we work that way is if we are hired as employees.

I’m guessing there’s not much of a chance you want that.

The other problem is that no one knows how much work you want done.

30 seconds one week, 40 hours next week. You don’t buy food or gas like that. What’s an equivalent way to work?

You might find someone on voices.com or voiceover.com, but I ‘d never take that deal for the above reasons.

I know this is old but there are some non-union talent that will now work out a retainer with a production company. But that will not give you the flexibility that you are looking for.

The main issue that makes what you are looking for difficult is usage. If someone set up a retainer type website, how could they cover all of the different types of usage that are required? A 30 second global TV ad can pay 5 figures for a well known brand yet a 10 hour audio book can be $3K. There are just so many parameters that make it difficult so I feel your pain.

You just want a nice easy solution with a fixed monthly budget. Let me know if you find something.
