It should be a simple Distort with maybe a few Liquify touches.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Mesh Warp and Puppet Tool are great tools for distortion, but they are quite flat. I would use Free Form or FreeForm Pro where you can get 3d distortion and displacement as well. It could on a layer with alpha, but the animation of the image filling the screen would be pretty boring. However this opens up a new posibility: use Motion Tile to create a perfect grid from one layer and then Card Dance to animate the tiles.

Depending on how you want the particles to animate you can use Plane Space from Red Giant also.
Another good option is to use one layer with the Generator from the Mettle plugins – either FreeForm Pro or ShapeShifter AE. You can create multiple instances and then animate them to fill the screen with a bit of tweaking.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

yep- all mine. Did not have much time though – only 3 work days to sift through 7 hours of footage, cut, vfx, gfx, find music, grading and compression. Fun though!

Working in 8 bit will give you less info – use 16bit or even 32 and then render to 10 bit for best results.
Just as a side note, AE uses 8,16,32 bit per channel for the color space you work in. The 10 bit from your codec refers to camera sensitivity. So rendering in Component Y’CbCr 10-bit 4:2:2 will give you the same type of footage that a 10 bit camera would. The short of it is use AE 8bit for 8bit codecs, AE 16bit or 32bit for 10bit codecs and AE 32bit for 12bit codecs (RED RAW).Tudor “Ted” Jelescu
