Here’s some good info regarding AI files in AE (this may be why it crashes):

As far as rendering from AME this is where you should start:

You should track the logo on the plane and then apply that track to an adjustment layer that has a blur on it and a mask that isolates the area of the plane. You can of course stabilize the footage first, but do not use that track data for your blur layer.

Are you using large PSD or other image format files?

Is it a 3d composition and if so, what render engine are you using?

Try using Encoder to render out and make sure you close AE, however, the issue may be caused by a large image file and the render may crash again. One thing to do to isolate the issue is to try to render a small piece of the project around the crash point as still files and then to figure out at what exact point the crash occurs. This way you can see if it happens when a new layer or effect comes in play and go from there.

Not quite sure I understand what you’re trying to do, but a mask only moves if you animate it.

Create a precomp with the footage you want to transition from.
Use the alpha from the keyed out fire transition layer to “cut” the transition in the video.
Comp the fire layer with Multiply, like Walter suggested, on top.
Use this precomp with the same alpha from the fire transition to get what you’re after.
Duplicate the precomp in the project window to be able to replace the fooatge and have separate precomps for each transition.

Post a screen grab of your project so we can see how you have it set up.

  • It would be much less work intensive if you could get the layered image from the architect. They usually add the people and sky later, so the building should be on a separate layer. This way it will be much easier to build a 3d projection or an actual 3d space. For the latter, you can take the layers in Photoshop, cut the planes, distort them and rebuild the perspective with 3d layers in AE.

What is the format of the footage? ( codec, bitrate, color…)
This will give us information of what you have to work with.
It makes a huge difference if the footage is a 4:2:0 or 4:4:4 for example.
