What version of AE?
What system specs?
Output settings?
All of the above will be helpful to know if you want an answer.
Turn OpenGL off.
Make sure you have enough RAM per processing core (2GB/core)Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

With no 3D to the rescue you’ll have to plan everything really well.
Storyboarding will help.
Think the shots within your limitations.
Simple actions- ex:
Mr Fantastic stretches to get a cup of water from living room to kitchen.
Shoot the actor on chroma facing the camera. Ask him to stretch his hand sideways and grab a glass of water that sits within reach on a table- at the last part of the action make sure he simulates a bit of effort and sort of acts in slow motion for the last few inches before he grabs the cup, then he does the same kind of move in reverse.
Shoot the same scene with (to have a reference) and without the Mr Fantastic actor in the living room. Have a still of the kitchen for set extension and simulate a travel from living to kitchen in post. Then comp the actor and use Puppet Tool (or Mesh Warp Distortion) to stretch the hand. Comp the table with the cup over the kitchen still and blend the last part of the stretch with the hand grabbing the cup. Animate the stretch on the “slow motion” move from the end of your actors gesture so that it looks more natural.
Hope it makes sense to you and it gives you more ideas.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

September 24, 2010 at 8:27 am in reply to: After Effects won’t import Premiere Pro ProjectWeird- I use CS5 for a while now and import Premiere to AE- never had this issue, only when I tried importing a CS4 Premiere to AE CS5 once. I solved that by importing to AE CS4 saving and then opening that in AE CS5. Try posting this on the Adobe forums.

Create a displacement map from the surface of the lake- take the saturation down and crush the black and white with levels (not too much). Use that to apply a distortion to your 3D creature as it moves under the surface. Duplicate the lake layer and comp the creature in between. Play with transparency on the top layer to see what looks best. You may need to apply some color correction to your 3d creature to bring it closer to the color of the water. Try creating an object with the same color/texture as the creature and shoot that under water in the same day/time as your lake shot for reference. You can use that to tweak your final comp.

I would use C4D to model the text (if you want some fancy modeling- otherwise just create that and texture in Zaxwerks invigorator). Then I would use Zaxwerks Invigorator to bring in (or create) the text to AE.
Use Boujou/SynthEyes or any other 3D tracker to match the camera move from the footage. Apply that data to a camera in AE. Position the 3d text to match the perspective in your footage – make sure you check the “use AE camera” option.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

What AE version are you using?
As a rule, it is best to bring in AE uncompressed footage.
ProRes would be better than H264.

September 20, 2010 at 6:44 pm in reply to: Seamless loop in QuickTime Player impossible?I agree with what Dave says and even if you wanted to edit in QT to multiply the loop you could just trim that frame off and save the clip like that- however my understanding is that you want to play that loop using QT. If that is the case, just use VLC or another player that does a better job of playing a loop.

2. There’s a bunch of things going on- the “wall” of stills can just be a file created in PSD or layers in AE parented to a Null. You also get some particles- probably particular- to get the floating specs.
Here’s a tutorial for a video wall:

3. CC Sphere textured with a layer with a grid of rectangles and an animated mask that reveals the bottom.
4. A ripple effect followed by particles (Particular will do )Tudor “Ted” Jelescu
