    Thanks Bill,
I did try that Panasonic, but it didn’t recognize the card. I am working around by using the stage mic file from the second show. Same musical numbers…only the hard toe ballet gets trick when their feet hit the floor a bit off time. But, that’s all I have to work with.

Shane, in reference to the study above, I wanted to double check the time it took to compress.

One thing I may have set that didn’t need to be changed was the Quality/Resize Filter, from the default Better (Linear filter) to Best (Satatistical Prediction).
That may be why it took 21 hours.

But when I recreated the Compressor 4 scenario, I could not get the Yellow Caution Icon to show up, even raising the bit rate to 7.65 Mbs, maximum it would go.

Do you know what generates that Alert Icon that tells me that my bit rate is too high?

    Thank you,
    Trig

Shane, I did a comparison of the two Compressors and here is what I found:

Taking a self contained 135 minute, 142.7 Gb exported QT.mov, from FCP7, into Compressor 4, increasing the bit rate until the yellow caution icon tells me it won’t fit the DVD. Then, backing the numerical number down to 3.99 mbs. It took 21 hours to compress. The final .m2v file is 4.03 Gb.

I took the same QT.mov file to my old computer and used Compressor 3.5.3. I use Bit Budget Worksheet to calculate the maximum bit rate and get 4.3 mbs.
This took 7 hours to compress. The final .m2v file is 4.26 Gb.

So, there is a couple great advantages of Compressor 3.5.3 over Compressor 4.

One third the time to compress and 5.7% higher bitrate.

I will have to continue with this work-around:

Do all my work on my new MacPro 2013 using FCP7.
Export it as a self contained QT.mov file.
Take the .mov file to my old MacPro 2008 and use Compressor 3.5.3.
Bring the .m2v an .ac3 files back to my new computer and continue with DVDSP4.

The reason I don’t just stay with my old computer is that my DROBO Raid system works best with Thunderbolt for Multi cam editing.

Lot of extra steps, but I don’t like the way Compressor 4 leave unused space on the disc.

Compressor 4 would do less compression if I could determine the bit rate.

Shane, is there a way to control the bit rate on 4?

    Hi Shane,
Just went back to FCP7 from FCPX and Premiere CC. Just like the simplicity of 7. But, now that I am on a new MacPro 2013, I don’t have Compressor 3.5.3. Is there any way I can get it on my system. Anywhere I look, the links go to Compressor 4. Only dislike 4, because I can’t select the bitrate. If I am only compressing say the second half of the 2 hour video, it seems to think that is all that is on the disc.

Any instructions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Trig

I thought that was what Ahmed did:

“So I created another sequence in Premiere and I imported the exported video to the new
sequence to check the audio meters and compare them with the original project, and I
discovered that the volume of the exported video was in fact much lower than the original project.”

I found the same problem in exporting to DVD.

  • As I am editing, I may find one camera that is recording too dark, but the other three are fine. This may only happen for a minute or two…until the cam op is told to brighten it up or he catches it himself. As in FCP7, I was able to make an adjustment on that one camera, and it would stay there until I needed to change it. But the other cameras would stay where the were.
With Primiere Pro CC, you lighten one camera and all the cameras get changed. So, you have to wait until you make a cut down the line before going back and changing each and every incidence of that camera.
Using an adjustment layer can be done, but it has to be cut out of the way when the other cameras are under the head.
There should be an easy fix, since I would think enough editors have the same situation and would like to see it happen.

    Thanks, Patrick.

    I found the answer!

Haven’t understood the significance of the Blue Highlighted V1, V2 etc., but did find out just now that the Video Track must be highlighted for the multicam to show.

Sad thing is that I discovered that a week ago, but…it take time for these things to sink in. So, after 4 hours of messing with it, I probably will remember the next time.

    Thanks Delcan,
But, I have been using the multicam on this Premiere Pro CC for the past two weeks with the multicam showing in the right window.
As a matter of fact, when I try to put an old multicam clip on the old sequence, it fails to show.

So, either something got changed in my settings that I thought someone would know about, or the current project is corrupted somehow.

As I stated, it works in a new project, but with only being able to open one project at a time, I can’t copy and paste from one sequence to another.

I can’t imagine someone reading this whole page to look for your question. Can you break it down to less detail?
