  • maybe look into using information from sourceRectAtTime to adjust the position of the null?

  • Well originally I meant from one group…. Actually I knew nothing about the particle replicator…. i just looked up align two objects and didnt get much search love…

Now seeing how it works… I would indeed like to have two groups or more and line them up side by side…

I am thinking I can replicate my planes then use nulls like I saw in a vid to place one plane of cubes directly next to the other…
    https://youtu.be/3jc8Rost4Lo

Ultimately I have kind of a complex final plane made of smaller groups in mind…. no photoshop now to make a pic but basically four squares that are cut by strips… i tried to represent it with numbers below… each number is a different texture type

    111192222
    111192222
    111192222
    111192222
    888878888
    333394444
    333394444
    333394444
    333394444

So in that i have 7 different textures… above is how I think I could do what I want and I guess i just use the replicator with multiple groups and “stick” them together using nulls BUT…

really I just want a plane of cubes and be able to change any cubes texture whenever I want… that would be awesome. So I could highlight strips or individual blocks or whatever.

I realize this is kind of abstract from the original question. There is no doubt the replicator can get me a plane of cubes that are aligned well… so that is great. However, perhaps there is even a better way to get to where I want.

    Thanks Mark Whitney

New to element and 3d so cheers

  • Not to be misleading… the app I did use.. not saying the link i posted here is for certain “the one”, did have video review. However, it was not as convenient as I wanted… i had to press more options than I liked to get it. nor was the size of my samsung galaxy 3 worth it I felt. Basically it was a smidge bigger than the built in viewfinder of the camera itself.

With a tablet you might find it different. Also, there may be a better direct link now… or the app improved.

Hope you find it and if you do, perhaps post here for others

    Cheers,

  • David,

Given the age of this post, I am sure there is more available but unfortunately can not direct you towards it.

The farthest I got was using my android phone as a controller for the dslr. I used an appwhich I cannot remember the name of now and a special adapter. It workedbut not great.

I might suggest searching for a similar solution if you have a tablet lying around.

Sorry I can not be of more help

I decided to use the “vertical tabs” approach described on p. 62 of the Beginning ScriptUI reference written by Peter Kahrel.

I noticed some peculiar behavior with my nested tab panels in this scenario but once I switched over to just dropdownlists it worked fine…

This is the best example of how to handle a multi step approach with scripting I have found thus far. Share if you find or know of any others please.

  • Nothing? I guess I will keep searching when I get a second… If anyone finds out anything about this please help…

  • Thanks Everybody….

There is definitely some good information here…. I wasn’t aware of DPX so I looked in to that… Also, I can see why one would keep copies of masters now…. I get it… You need as many points of safety as you can get… I equate it to rock climbing and checking your equipment….

As for my specific needs… Well.. I guess I will have to decide on the specific codec, etc that is good for me…. Right now I am leaning towards… keeping audio and video separate as a backup master….

    I was thinking…. png sequence with audio…

I am not sure if that is the best but probably it is good enough for me… and this would be lossless right?

    Cheers….

  • So I have gathered that a sub clip is only a reference clip… duly noted… thanks…

I guess I just assumed there was someone out there who like me decided to just let the camera roll and then cut the piece they needed out later.

I plan on changing my recording style I guess and only trying to capture that one good take….

The reason my files were so big for this first shoot was that I just let the camera roll and then thought I could cut out the part I needed and scrap the original. If there is no great way to do that without losing quality then like I said… I will just change they way I shoot stuff next time around.

    Cheers,

    Travis

  • Ok… so I have since found three different cameras that shoot in:

    1920x1080p 25fps

if I set all my cameras to this…. Is there anything else I will need to worry about as far as editing?

I will be using CS4 Premiere Pro

I just don’t want to shoot everything and realize I missed something …

From my understanding if they are all in 1920x1080p at 25fps then it’s ok…. different file format is ok right?
