Better filter management. After Effects style Adjustment Layers or a way to remove specific filters from a range of clips on a timeline. Ability to turn on or off selected filters. Redo Time-Mapping, support progressive renders of motion effects in an interlaced timeline… many more.

You can use Cinema Tools to conform the footage to 23.98fps.

I’ve found it to be faster overall. There is no longer that molasses in the timeline when working on long-form projects, or projects with many cuts.

In FCP 4.5 I use to break up my edits into 10 minute blocks because the slowdown was unbearable. With FCP 5.0 I cut the full program within the timeline, no slowdowns.

Nope. It’s a video clip with no scaling applied. Straight clean DV footage from the viewer. I can’t be the only person noticing this.

I found a slight workaround, and that’s just to turn on Luma Range Checking. Not the best solution.

Hard to do when there’s nothing that needs rendering, meaning it’s clean footage straight to the timeline. Is it acknowledged that this is a bug?

Compressor does an amazing job with natural source footage slowing down. It’s the best slow-down “plug-in” for the quality. However, you can control the parameters you can with some of the other plug-ins on the market. ReTimer is probably the most full featured slowdown plugin.

If you are printing video frames at 300dpi, the largest you can print at is something like 2 inches x 1.5 inches in size. You really can’t expect to print full framed DVD covers and get the quality and resolution that you see on your big TV. Either re-work your design to incorporate multiple frame grabs, or get wedding day photos from their photo album and use those instead.

What’s the difference between using this filter as opposed to using the 3-way Color Corrector and lowering the whites to under 100 IRE?
