I am capturing Varicam overcrank 60fps from 1200A into FCP HD 4.5.

How do I get my footage to play slo-mo? All my captures play normal speed in QT and Timeline

My goal is to capture and export to AE and stretch the 60fps even further with Twixtor Pro.

I tried a search for Varicam and 60fps and did not see any relevant posts. I’m an old school avid guy so I know how pro video works…I’m just new to my 1200 deck and FCP

    Thanks a bunch

You need to be working in a 24 or 30fps timeline for the slow mo to be seen. If you’re working in a 59.94 timeline, then the 60fps footage will basically play at “normal” speed.

If I go to capture scratch and view the quicktime without fcp should it play normal?

    When I created a 23.98 sequence the clip (item proporties 59.94fps) still played @ normal speed…not slo-mo.

    Am I missing something?

Sorry for the basic question…I know not where to turn…Thanks

I’m pretty sure the properties should read 60, not 59.94 if it’s truly a 60fps clip. the 1200A always runs at 59.94 so you should have captured the 60 footage using the 720/60 setting. That should play in slo mo in the 23.98 timeline.

I don’t have any 60fps footage loaded on my system right now and can’t remember how that worked when we did it. I’ll look around or maybe Gary Adcock will jump in here with the answer as well.

You can use Cinema Tools to conform the footage to 23.98fps.

The cinema tools conform worked. Does that process degrade the image at all or is it working just with distributing the existing 60fps data accross a different timebase?

    Thanks for the tip

I just noticed that when I import the clip into AE it shows the file as half size. Does cinema tools have the tendency to make the view size half?

When I opened the qt file itself it was playing half size…I swithed the file to actual size and it was @ 1280×720. When I imported the file into AE however it came in @ 640×360.

    Any thoughts?
