[Franz Bieberkopf] “further down Tony West talking about patching tracks slowing him down. (I don’t think I’ve ever patched a track in 10 years or more of using FCP).”
Just selecting where the audio from a clip of b-roll would go.
I don’t do that now. The sound of that b-roll of say a truck just goes with the video of the truck since they are imbedded.
I’m dropping the single item in a spot not multiple ones. Clearer?
I could break them apart if I wanted to most time I don’t have a need to. I want them to ride together.

[Morten Carlsen] “Still – to me the single most important thing is getting the job done. I am a highly visual guy and what makes FCPx the superior choice to me, is the Event Library and its concept. I am a big fan of getting to know my material and “sort on the run” — I am also REALLY big on saving time.”
I’m really big on saving time to, and at the end of the day getting up on that screen what’s in my head.
The thing that I would add about X and speed, is that many of the things that speed up the edit for me by themselves seem small.
The skimmer
tagging
those fade handles
not patching tracks
retiming
Hack, even that Burns (they need to add a control for a pause in there like FX Factory)I could go on, but when you put all these things together they add up to an overall faster experience for me. It’s not just ONE thing, it’s a bunch of things all at the same time.
To me it speaks well to X that the debate has gotten to philosophy. (I can take that or leave it and still get my job done)
It started out as…….X CAN’T do this or that, but apple has kept taking those things off the table.
Leaving fewer and fewer things to point at in the can’t list. It’s just going to come down to which style you like.

[Aindreas Gallagher] “I personally have absolutely no idea how apple see the world I am editing wage dependent on- and that is a really interesting, unfriendly mystery.”
I hear you, can’t speak for them I just watch them, and one thing I have seen is them snuggle up to the top cameras.
You may have seen the post on Red Raw and I saw a clip of the f 55 working with X (not even out yet)
They already had Alexa in their release video. Sync ready DSLR, what’s left?
They are ready for the top cameras in the world.
That tells me they want to do top stuff.
Only top end productions use Red. They clearly want those independent film makers and they are starting to get them.
Last time I was on Kickstarter I saw teasers with recognizable X graphics.
I didn’t expect houses like yours to switch this year or maybe next.
It’s going to be out there long haul. Too much power for too little of a price with too many people feeling like it’s fun to work with to be ignored.

[Aindreas Gallagher] “Clients are barely aware of it – half of them don’t even know FCP is EOL – not kidding.”
Are you surprised by this Aindreas? Most of my clients are not cutting edge on most of the tools that are out there.
They don’t anything about the Sony F5 either. I don’t blame them really, they are not the ones using the equipment. Like you have said in the past, they just want to feel confident that I know how to use it. What ever it is.
Apples and oranges though.
A person cutting their own doc and a person like you cutting for clients. These should be two different discussions.

Man that brings back memories Andy.
And the Kiki wipe hahahaha
Thanks for posting it. And yes, that VO is ridiculous

my .6 gave me a lot of beach balls to. I went to my Disk Utility and did a repair Disk Permissions and have not had one problem since. I had seen others talking about that on another site so decided to try it.
So far so good.

Thanks for the heads up Craig, I’m downloading it right now.

November 15, 2012 at 7:00 pm in reply to: OT Sony to release an SDK this month for its recently launched XAVC video formatI’m hoping when the f 5 comes out it will knock down the price of the f 3 to save me some bucks on that : )

OK Jeremy thanks, I will give that a shot.
I see bret’s example also.
I’m cutting this doc right now and I’m dropping in a ton of photos and they are different sizes so I’m doing a lot of work on each pic. I’m doing more clicking on pics and adjusting them than Bret’s example so I hadn’t really thought of his point.
