    OK I got you.

That does seem weird that it doesn’t find those names.

But if I type in just Paul it will find any of his pics or Kleba (who is in another event) and is talking about Paul that’s a marker or sound.

I have not seen this with my titles but I’m pretty frustrated with how buggy this update has been.

It’s almost like they didn’t even test it before they put it out.

I know they did, so I can’t see how so many basic bugs didn’t get fixed before this point.

[Jeremy Garchow] ” Events as it is Event specific, and you cannot search for a keyword name.”

I’m confused, are you sure about this J?

I have been searching by keywords by selecting the Library just fine.

I have all my subjects in my doc as individual events (I talked about why in the past) but I just go up to the Library in I need to and search that way.

Mostly I go right to the event I I know it’s in and keyword from there.

[Brett Sherman] “I think just about everyone is going to create an event that just contains projects. “

    I know that’s the first thing that I did : )

[Herb Sevush] ” I think it’s the fact that Motion isn’t as widely accepted, although I use it all the time, that allows this to be such a non-issue.”

    I second this.

I love Motion but I feel like I’m on an island.

[Douglas K. Dempsey] “But sometimes in documentary, if you start fussing with and eliminating shots as you go because they won’t correct or “cut” well – you’re dead. Your first task is often to look for “storytelling pieces” … and often those selects are made on a content basis alone. You almost don’t want to acknowledge what might be “wrong” with a shot at that stage, because it may turn out that you HAVE to use it, quality be damned.”

This is so dead on Douglas.

I’m cutting a doc right now and I have to fight the urge to keep tweaking on shots that may not even end up in the doc.

I know better, but it’s hard to stop.

I need lay out the story and then come back and start cleaning everything up just like you said.

    It’s hard : )

That is pretty much my take on local news

Up first local Crime and death, then weather and then sports.

Local news is starting to take their cue from National news in as far as it became clear that we couldn’t really do a national story that made a major corporation mad, because they may want to go to that corp for ads in the future.

December 9, 2013 at 8:50 pm in reply to: Avid?

[Herb Sevush] “the media production markets of NY and LA.”

Avid is very visible in STL also.

People have invested too much money to just toss it out. Even if individual editors liked something different. It’s too much of a lift for a network with all their little regionals that would have to move also.

Right now we (freelancers) can cut at home or in the truck and hand it in. Staff folk on Avid in-house.

I don’t ever want to work on staff there so it doesn’t matter to me but if I did, I would have to be on Avid.
