It is, but the ironic thing is, the two stations here in town that are using it are not doing run and gun news with it.

The producer/editors are using it for specials, like cooking shows and fix up my crap home type shows.

They are using it for productions that were shot multi camera in the field and loving it.

When I come into these stations I only work on specify shows and never the actual news so I don’t know what they are doing for day to day news cutting. I will ask and report back.

I think that’s what I see as one of the main thing X is fighting.

Because it’s so user friendly and easy to learn it has the image that it can only do easy stuff.
That’s not really the case.

It’s always been a great fit for news to me.

I talked one station into switching to X and another has also with a third looking at it.

All these stations have their own web presence these days. Go right from the timeline to it with a click and the quality looks great.

I think I know what you are trying to do and I was asked this before.

If you have the logo on top of your video and then you ad your transitions to it, I think you then need to make the logo and transition a compound clip.

A person I know wanted to make a bloom title come on screen without having it effect the video below it.

I won’t speak farther on the topic here, accept to say, as I speak to the younger generation,
I’m impressed by their maturity and depth on topics like these and I feel good about the future.

Ok, so he pushed an empty wheelchair onto the escalator to get that shot. Hummmmm not at all out of the ordinary.

If any one of these actions doesn’t draw attention somebody’s sleep on the job.

I can draw attention just walking down the hall minding my own biz, let alone trying any of these moves,

hahaha that looks even more crazy and suspicious on a security monitor if you don’t know he’s making a video.

Camera or not, he climbed on top of the counter and was laying up there. They don’t want you doing that kind of stuff hahaha

I figured on at least some of the shots he had to move stuff around, like a sign to mont that camera to it to get certain shots. He didn’t have a tripod.

Look at it again, figure where the camera would have to be to get the shot and how it’s there.

Nobody said anything to him when he was doing all that?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they didn’t. We wouldn’t have the great video : )

I loved it, but I’m with you on this one. They are usually all over you in a place like this when you break out a camera. He was all up on that checkin counter.

They have security cameras everywhere. I can only figure he did it 3 or 4 in the morning and somebody was asleep at the gaurd shack : )

A perfect example right there Herb of just personal preference : )

I just like grabbing the one source and dragging all three down to a spot at once (or back up when I want it).

I respect your organized way of doing it. Another editor might look at my timeline and say, what’s that doing down there? hahaha

I guess that’s really it for me. I’m doing multiple things in one move. I’m just trying to work as efficiently as I can.

I kind of smiled when I read this part because that’s how I find myself using X

I’m constantly dragging clips below the timeline and muting them in case I want to use them later (they don’t move along with it though).

I don’t want to go back and look for them, they are just sitting down there for me hehehe

I never really worked like that before, I think it would have been too cluttered.
