I agree Walter, I almost feel goofy bringing it up because it’s so simplistic that it sound almost trivial.

The only difference being that dragging that playhead is part of the majority of your edits.

Dissolving audio isn’t.

The conversation is about the number of clicks for a certain edit, but the ironic things is, that’s negated if you are clicking in the timeline every time you want to move the playhead.

Your total number of clicks are higher. If it’s about clicks, to keep it real, you would have to round up all the clicks for the overall edit session.

The skimmer cuts down the clicks on every type of edit.

So however you are getting to that one audio edit, it’s more clicks for the session.

My focus is the overall session, not just part of it : )

I can’t believe how addicted to it I have become.

Back on, I’m really shocked at how good my mix sounds using those handles. To look at them I wouldn’t have thought it would work well at all.

Well, I hesitated to trash my preferences because I have spent a lot of time remapping my keyboard.

(I guess I’m a little lazy in not wanting to put all my mapping back)

functions that I use a lot that require 2 key strokes I have mapped to just one key. (I just like hitting one
key : )

my reveal in browser for example is just the 1 key and my reveal in finder is 2

I just use these so much I just wanted to cut down the keystrokes.

I have been leaving X open for long stretches so before I trashed my Ps I wanted to try just quitting and restarting X

I opened it back up and so far I have not been able to repeat the problem.

Anyway, just wanted to update everybody.

I’m so glad you said this John. I totally agree. I was wondering if I was crazy hehehe

I have been working like this from the start with X and I find that I really like the sound of the crossfade of the music this way. I have easier control and I just really like it.

I love that white dot. Saves clicks and time. One of my favorite features added.

I just wanted to drop in here Charlie, I see the point you are making, I would only add that in coverage of these large sporting events (I have done many) the front end promo stuff like Bill showed is really the
“heavy lifting” editing of that type of production. You really don’t have a lot of time to spend cutting on these live events.

While I believe X would be right at home on these live events, (I have said so from the start) I’m actually more impressed with the example in the article. I figured it would make it to the remote trucks more often and quicker than these nice promos.

So in spirit you make a good point but in the sports world, I don’t think your movie example fits.
It’s a different beast.
