You might check out the Sony 1000u. I have 2 of them, along with some higher end cams, and for home video and event stuff it works great!!!! HDV cam but I capture to proress and it always looks awesome!!!!! Check b&h for it. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Dave… I’m using the apple Bluetooth keyboard on my mac pro. It doesn’t have a numeric keypad on it. How can I RAM preview with my setup? Can I remap that in AE? I’m totally new to AE so I appreciate it!

Another way for you to deliver in HD would be to get an apple tv, or a western digital media player (under $120) for the client. Especially if he wants to use it and other projects in the future for presentations.

You can encode awesome quality HD files and they look fantastic on an LCD or even a screen. Blu Ray is a whole other world to get into.

    Just an idea!

Yea…that was an issue for me even when using raid drives. Really though, just use regular Prores and everything will be fine! HQ is pretty much overkill. I deliver to DVD, Broadcast, and more so you should be fine!

Andy’s right on. After you do that, youay need something like Photoshop to fix it up a bit and de-interlace it.

What might be happening here is that when you use smoothcam in FCP, it analizes the entire clip…not just the portion that you used in the timeline. That’s why it takes so long for it to analyze the first time around. So…if you have several edits in your timeline from the same master clip, each time you make a change to one of those pieces, you’re, in effect, changing the whole master clips underlying render.

The way to avoid this is to make individual master clips of each instance that you use Smoothcam on, or just do the Smoothcam as the last thing you do before delivery…you know what I mean…last render of post production.

I could be misunderstanding your situation but that’s the first thing that came to mind. Good luck!

I think you’re talking about something like this…if you are in the timeline, and you hit the down arrow on your keyboard, you’ll go to the next edit but then it shows the first frame if the next clip. If you then hit the left arrow, it will go to the last frame of the previous clip.

Am I understanding what you’re trying to do?
