Yes, that type of digging seems well beyond me!
I figure it’s the master that has been edited because no matter what project I open, that specific template is now my messed-up version. I’ll look into reinstalling… prob should anyway since these templates are all in NTSC or Pal.
Thank you for you thoughts and time on this, Robin.
I’ll post the results after it’s been sorted through.

    thanks for the reply.
so how do we change the frame rate in compressor without making the voices sound like Mickey Mouse?

Oh, and we recorded audio compressed to AAC rather than choosing the (unfamiliar to us) uncompressed or 2:1 compression options.

    Added to:
I’m having the same problem – used compressor and apple prores422 on two separate clips recorded from Skype via Ecamm Recorder.
But keep getting “General Error” once I bring it into FCP and render all.
For some reason the frame rate of one clip came in at 8fps, another at 14.99 fps, and the original quicktime .movs at 10fps.
Is there a better conversion via compressor or do I need to change settings in Ecamm recorder?
For our test we did the first clip (that came into FCP as 8fps) with remote

I just know we can make this work, but how?

Sequence to clip settings must still be messed up, because though the audio “sticks with” the video, the video now “sticks” and jerks every few seconds. Sequence settings at an editing timebase of 25 matches audio but not video?

All sd-video is from cameras/videographers for which I have no contact nor any notes on filming set-up; I can only look at clip setting once I’ve captured them via my deck. I’ve tried to match clip settings with sequence settings, then vice-versa (allow sequence to match clip in FCP).

Help! I’m completely lost and deadline is tomorrow.

Thanks Robb, for your quick reply!

The source is mini-DV SD tapes. For the moment, I’m just trying to capture and get the media onto DVD for the client to view. Eventually we will be incorporating all media into HD sequences.

I’m guessing problem is with capture settings, though perhaps entire project sequence and clip settings are in-congruent, and causing issues.

I’ve “rigged” sequence to a 720X480 NTSC DV setting with an editing timebase of 25. All audio setting are 48 KHz. This has alleviated audio slip. But I still don’t “get it.” If I bring in the clip to my HD sequence (1440X1080, editing timebase 25, QT video setting HDV 1080i50) it plays well, but the time to make a QT movie is ridiculous-long; 6 hours for a 40 minute clip.

Actually, this long QT issue is the same when I’m working with my HD media in the HD sequence as well. Even Dvd Studio Pro has issues with extremely long write times. Could it be a memory issue? [running on 8 GB of memory on a Power Mac G5 with 2 GHz Processer]

Obviously, I’m a bit lost moving into HD world. Aside from current problem, I feel like I’m continually guessing on FCP settings. Can someone suggest a good place to get basic setting suggestions and reasons for incorporating different media types?

July 8, 2008 at 5:57 pm in reply to: Ghosting/flicker in HDV 1080i sequence

I have no answer but the same issue; a flicker/jump quality to ONLY certain clips. I DO have an external monitor and the flicker quality has the same issue. We filmed in both SD and HD and our sequence/project is 720×480 NTSC DV 3:2. I’ve tried playing with the field dominance as well, and the FCP flicker filter, smooth cam, time remap (though this last one I was experimenting with and may have used incorrectly). help?
