If you have any concerns about having matching cameras then you need to get another D50. Mixing and matching different brands and models really sucks and will always result in downgrading the better camera to the one that sucks the most.

  • What happens if I can convince the entire family to dress up as cows, calves and bulls.

Will I get a month supply of chicken nuggets and gravy?

I ain’t about to dress up like a cow and only get some chicken poop out of the deal.

I tried one of those units and found it had audio crackling problems.

I nicknamed the unit “Dazzle me dorks” .

I recommend you dump the unit fast.

You need to check the frequencies of the tv and radio stations in the areas you plan to work in with the wireless units.

Ask the vendor you are purchasing the units from if they can provide you with a frequency coordination to discover what problem frequencies exist in your area.

I had a client that despite the crap he submitted always one a Telly.

It seemed that at $135 a pop he was guaranteed to receive a trophy.

I have served as a judge for the Emmy’s and I can tell you we only awarded those who delivered quality, interesting programs. We has to weep out alot of visual and content crap which amazed me at why the productions had even been submitted. Maybe the producers figured they only had to strive for Telly quality but were shocked to learn what Emmys look for.

    Alan,

Think of termination like a facet in which you must either turn on the water to let it flow out (loop to another monitor) or turn off to stop the flow. The last monitor in the loop is the one you must terminate.

Generally it is not advisable to loop more than once because you will start to have video signal roll off issues. I only loop monitors which are being used for content and framing not image quality viewing.

    Mike,

Are you trying to imply that Ty is not a professional? It was clear to me that he is not a novice just a professional seeking information.

I regret you did not mention the audio information on your website in your first post which would have been quite helpful for all “pro’s” seeking information.

    Devin,

7.5 setup only applies to NTSC analog outputs not SDI. There is no setup when dealing in SDI. I assume you are monitoring the SDI output of the switcher on the waveform monitor. You must also verify your monitor is set up properly when you have color bars displayed. The pulge and blue check must be set up right if you expect to make accurate black level and color shading decisions.

However you do not run your black levels flatline at 0 because you will be crushing the blacks.

You need to give yourself some headroom so running them at 1-2 millivolts is more ideal. However depending on what you are shooting in terms of contrast you may need to lower or higher the black level.

You should consider working with an experienced freelance video control operator for your multicamera shoots. This is the only way to obtain consistant quality camera shading as well as comply with broadcast standards.
