One of the major improvements in FCP 5 was the scaling quality over FCP 4.5 but that said you still need to use an external monitor to properly judge the image quality.

What are you RT extreme settings set to?

RT extreme setting will affect the image quality seen in the FCP canvas.

Puppets need to eat too so watch out for IA 756541@#$% which oversees the puppets union. Be careful not to confuse them with the Doll union which is run by that evil Chucky and his wife.

They can get real nasty during a contract dispute and if you don’t feed them on time.

Verify you have all the “i and t” dotted before dealing with puppets, and or dolls- the cute ones or blow up versions.

In this era people love looking at beautiful things, people or items because they deep down aspire or desire to be just like or have the images displayed. I wonder if the good looking clients pay more than the ugly ones because they are willing to pay higher for better quality images of themselves.

Back in the middle ages however women who had some meat on them were considered appealing in contrast.

So why not offer a speciality service for videotaping wedding for a era gone by where Fat is in and ugly is cool.

Make sure the videography is a fat overweight news cameraman who can’t hold the camera steady unless it is on his belly for cushion.

The art of learning how to shoot handheld or steadicam is all about real world practice and experience.

You just have to get out there and do it!! That said however one great tool to learn what to shoot is to watch your favorite TV shows and analyze the handheld,steadicam and/or dolly shots to see how the shot is done.

Then just go out and practice those moves yourself ie (handheld- walking forward and backward, in a circle, shooting on the long end of a lens, the proper method of breathing to stabilize your shots, proper placement and use of your arms,elbow feet etc, Steadicam- walking up stairs, down stairs, low mode, high mode etc etc.

The list goes on and on but the best instruction is experience itself.

Yes but you still would have to deal with the renders which would need to be redone when relinking the media on another cpu.

A better solution would be to create a fcp self contained movie and use another vtr control application such as the ones AJA and Blackmagic offer to lay off the clip to tape.

Are you seeing a multicam clip in the viewer by any chance?

If so be aware that a FCP 5 multicam clip will not display safe title.

The drawback to being in the rental business is you have to buy the majority of option cards to fulfill the numerous client requirements which fit their specific workflow not yours.
Consider how much rental income you lost on this job and potential future jobs and weight the cost of the HD-SDI card to see if it would be worth the ROI (return on investment).

Not everyone will agree that using firewire for capture will fit their technical specifications.

I personally will not use it for vtr control because it is so slow compared to RS-422 control.

One last note did you check the hours meters before and after the vtr left to verify the client did not use the deck non stop and possibly captured via firewire only to return it complaining that it would not work for their needs in effect getting a free rental. Such a tactic is typical of the “hollywood shuffle”.

My backup has been to do a “save as” to create a duplicate file of the project renaming the file project with the abbreviations BK behind the name.

I do this in addition to saving the project with the original name.

As a policy I always rely on my manual “save as” files as my fallback instead of the autosave.

Up until now I had never had a problem with autosave not saving per my defined settings.
