  • Besides having another computer, what is the best way to record masters?

Whether print to tape or playing the timeline, my G5 is tied up. The only thing I can think of is a video raid server that would allow another computer to access the project file and media to print to tape. This saves the time to transfer media to another computer, but still requires two computers. It would be great to have a hybrid deck that could read an FCP project file. The Apple G5 Deck.

Yes but you still would have to deal with the renders which would need to be redone when relinking the media on another cpu.

A better solution would be to create a fcp self contained movie and use another vtr control application such as the ones AJA and Blackmagic offer to lay off the clip to tape.
