    Michael,

I detect some resistance to the deal deep down inside.

Only you can answer faithfully what your inner voice is telling you.

If the deal is not adverse to your ability to generate future work, stay employed, pay all your current expenses, overhead and mortgage and leave alittle left over for personal items than it sounds like it will work.

However if you will feel lost without the daily grind of working every day at a place you created and nutured then this lost may not be worth the rewards.

Ultimately you have to trust yourself and even more the buyers. If you have the slightest amount of mistrust or doubt then don’t do the deal or discuss your concerns and get them out on the table.

I wish you the best of luck.

But seriously as I was just joking about Fed ex and DHL.

If you need to deal with brown outs the best solution in addition to the UPS is a Furman voltage regulator.

If the incoming voltage is between 80-120 volts the regulator will always output a steady 115 volts.

There is a voltage indicator which shows if the unit is in regulation + or – 5 volts and what the output voltage currently is.

I use a Furman 1215 in addition to a trip lite UPS which also has a voltage readout on it. I keep my mac and main computer monitor powered off the UPS.

The UPS worked great the one time I lost power and was able to run for about 15-20 minutes.

    George,

I never meant to imply it went away only that it died.

The name I used to describe the product was done so to protect the innocent I mean guilty.

  • Less is more when running the head cleaning cassette.

4 second maximum. Any more is bad for the heads in the long run due to excessive wear and tear.

Well also consider Fed EX or DHL as well as the USPS service for all your shipping needs.

You did mean United Parcel Service right?

I wonder if the problems you describe have anything to do with your viewing monitor. Depending on how it was calibrated and the model of the monitor used you will get vastly different results compared to what Sunset is using in their bays with the aid and support of a full time engineering staff.

HDV is 4:2:0 so I would expect to see some bad chroma artifacts after multiple generations.

April 30, 2006 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Digital Betacam and genlock question!

The bigger issue is setting up the digi beta deck menus properly.
There are a hell of alot of menus which must be set up correctly.

Talk to the rental house in advance to discuss your specific application and ask the engineering department to pre program the menus in advance.

The vtr can be set to lock the incoming SDI signal, external such as a blackburst generator, or it’s own internal bb generator.

Do not mix and match analog audio with SDI video or else you will have a audio sync issue.

If you go SDI with the video set the decklink to output the audio embedded and in addition make sure the vtr audio input is set to accept the embedded audio.

Yeah well the Kona SD is still operational and is supported by AJA unlike other companies such as Sin-a -went-away which is now DOA.
