You can make audio a secondary storyline if you wish. Some users who are working with music are putting the music itself on the primary storyline and connecting everything to that so it’s free to move about.

You don’t need the the video animation is you’re pointing on a transition. Also Custom has tools for doing your own title, which is why it’s called Custom. We’re just giving you reference points to do things, but with know exactly the transition is and what you’re trying to do we can only give you different options.

At the top of the transition there is a bar. It has three grab points, one on each end to ripple, one in the middle to to roll. You can select any of the three with the appropriate shortcut and use the judge keys or ripple or roll numerically.

You don’t need the gap in front if you control-click tyne transition and uncheck from black which is the default behavior for transitions at the start and end of a storyline.

I do actually. I was just reacting to the hyperbole. The timeline trimming I like a lot. Not so wild about the precision editor. Like the display. Like the way it works in the timeline, but I think the controls need a little development. Simple I/O to change the edit would make it more fluid. Dynamic trimming here would be useful.

I’m curious too, because timeline trimming is actually very similar to FCP7, with even some improved tools for topping and tailing.

Select the two clips press Control-S to expand them. Select the edit point. [ key. Apply the transition. Collapse the audio with Control-S.
