I didn’t seem to have a problem with that, though the material wasn’t very long. The conform process is pretty tedious, but I think that’s there for all flavors of HDV. What I did was export a self-contained QT movie, which conforms and builds the file. Then laid that in a new timeline and printed from there. I do that for most thinks anyone.

QuickTime can be a lot of things. What sequence settings are you using? What’s the codec and specifications of the QT material? What version of FCP are you using? What are you doing to the material that requires rendering? That’s the absolute minimum specs for running recent versions of FCP.

Switch the canvas to image+wireframe and you can scale, crop, rotate and reposition the clips however you like.

Cmd-R will render selected items. Opt-R will render all. You really should do the tutorials, read the manual, or a good book or other instructional materials on this application.

The camera works with FCP in 720p30. For that it works fine within the limitations of MPEG-2 HDV material and capturing across the broken GOP structure. You usually lose around four seconds of material at the shot change if you capture across it. FCP does not seem to recognize it as a DV device if you want to output DV material.

FCP does not accept iTunes purchased music. It will work in iMovie though, and you can export it from there to AIFF at the sampling rate you’re using.

Looking at the two of the them I think the similarities are exaggerated. The iPod silhouette figure has been used for a few years now, I think since the players were first introduce in 2001, which BTW pre-dates the Lugz ad. The most pronounced similarity is the color gradient on the cityscape. Simply using a commonly used gradient theme isn’t a copyright infringement. There is little otherwise in the text or graphical treatment (most easily cited as a copyright infringement) that is even similar. The paint splash effect that is most pronounced in the iPod ad doesn’t appear in the Lugz ad; the black drawing and arrow treatment in the Lugz ad doesn’t appear in the Apple ad. The dance character is Eminem, in a characteristic performance, not a 3D model as in the Lugz ad. That his moves and the music are in any way similar says more about the stereotypical repetitiveness of rap than it does about copyright infringement.

These are the only fonts I’ve found that will appear in OS X. The don’t produce Georgian text for me however, but that may be because I don’t have the keyboard set correctly to produce the right Unicode. They’re not double bit fonts so it should be pretty simple to do. The fonts appear in both the Text tool and in Title 3D.

Apply the deinterlace filter. That will throw away one of the fields.

The duration of the clip in the timeline is not relevant. What matters is if there is available media for the clip beyond the In and the Out points you’ve marked for the clips. If there is no available media the only way for the application to overlap the clips would be to pull them over each other, shortening the sequence. The application will not do that. It requires that there be extra material beyond your designated In and Out points to allow the application to overlap the clips during the transition.
