I don’t think the documentation actually says that. You can capture and export up to eight tracks in hardware. FCP supports up to 24 tracks for a clip, or 24 tracks on export to software, but not to hardware.

It does work. Some features like multicam may not work well. This is FCP, not all the Studio applications will work, and the configuration is not supported by Apple. Final Cut Express is supported on the MacBook.

The add edit function is controlled by the autoselect buttons. Make sure you have them turned on to the right trakcs you want to cut.

You can only do this with Compressor, not with FCP itself. It’s not hard to do assuming you have a very fast connection between the machines.

Yes, FCE has composite modes. How you composite a logo depends on the logo. Usually you resize and position it to a corner of the screen. You can use opacity to make it semi-transparent and a composite mode to blend it with the underlying video.

You can’t. FCE is a format specific editing application. It only edits or DV or HDV at NSTC or PAL frame rates 29.97fps or 25fps.

Do you have the keyboard set to multiclip editing in the Tools menu? This is kind of clunky on a laptop because it uses the keypad which is embedded in the main keyboard with the function keys.
