    Howdy Hey,

I haven’t had much need to use the multiclip feature, but i’ve sync’d and play multiclips from time to time.

Now I have 2 big projects that both need multiclip cutting. I’ve got my multiclip, sync’d, in the viewer & timeline (programed my cutting keys) and cutting, realtime, on the timeline. Very Cool.(Powerbook Laptop no-less)

Problem: I will be using my keyboard shortcuts, watching FCP add markers where I want a cut in the timeline, then when you stop it FCP adds the cuts. I don’t know how or exactly when, but I’m doing something to the multiclip that-then doesn’t make the cuts? I’m usually jumping around to the viewer and/or canvas. So it will add the marker when I want a cut, but when I stop, it doesn’t cut the multiclip anymore? I’ve tried looking at all my menu settings and even tried to dulicate it, but I’m not having any luck.
I am using a 16×9 clip with 2 4×3 (not my choice) so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it?

I’m sure it’s a menu choice, but for the life of me I’m not seeing it. Unfortunately I got my FCP certification before they added the multiclip feature 🙁

    Any thoughts?

Do you have the keyboard set to multiclip editing in the Tools menu? This is kind of clunky on a laptop because it uses the keypad which is embedded in the main keyboard with the function keys.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

Yes, i’m using the multiclip keyboard layout. I customize my number keys for the angles (4) and it worked fine.

Everytime I ‘do’ whatever it is that makes it stop working, I am able to copy and paste into a new timeline and it will work again.
So it’s either something goofy with FCP or I’m executing some keyboard command that I can figure out.
I was a little more careful after it happen twice and I finished the show. But I still need to know what’s going on…

    Cheers,
