There should be a checkbox in the capture window, which will let you switch this off. Not sure how reliable this in the version you’re using, or with that camera.

In most DV cameras the image is squeezed horizontally to make it anamorphic. The image is still 4:3, just squeezed. You have to tell the application it’s anamorphic to for it digitally spread the horizontal resolution.

You need to either make the separate clips you make master clips, or make them subclips (which in FCP are master clips). The clips you’re making are affiliate clips to the master they’re being cut from and have to have the same name.

Use Title 3D. It allows full justification. It can look weird in video.

Make the line in a graphics application like Photoshop. Then animate a wipe or a garbage matte to reveal the line.
