The most likely reason is that OMF has export limitations. It’s assumed the audio editing, effects and levels control, will take place in the audio software.

This is quite wrong. You can export Audio to AIFFs and export each track as a separate file or pairs of tracks grouped as stereo pairs. You do this in the Audio Output panel of Sequence Settings. You then assign each track to a separate output channel. You can output up to 24 tracks like this.

You can specify which track goes to which output channel by right-clicking in the track header and choosing it from the shortcut menu.

Surround sound can’t be monitored in FCP, but you can export tracks and assign them to specific surround sound channels in Compressor.

Full specs on the images would be helpful. They’re probably too high a resolution and are producing patterning in the interlacing. A one pixel vertical motion blur might help.

This is not the way you moves clips in the timeline. You want to a swap edit. Grab the clip. Move it where you want it to go. Hold the Option key and then release the mouse.

In the view popup in the canvas did you switch to viewing the alpha channel? What happens when you do that? If the screen is all white FCP is not recognizing the alpha channel. You might try going to item properties and see if it’s set for straight or black.
