  • FCP will not communicate w/ JVC GY-HD100

Posted by Jt on October 7, 2006 at 6:16 pm

I’m trying to use the JVC GY-HD100 for the first time, and have come to the capture process. Final Cut will not detect the camera. When I switch its IEEE-1394 switch to DV instead of HDV, it complains less, and seems to be convinced it can communicate with the camera for a moment. I go to hit play, and suddenly it won’t communicate anymore.

We need to capture in HDV. It’s kinda crazy – iMovie just automatically recognizes the thing.

    Shot in 30p 16:9.

    Thanks for any help!

Another thing… I went into the Easy Setup, and selected HDV 720p30 (and all the other HDV presets).

    Still nothing.

Trash your preferences. Repair permissions. Reboot. Connect the camera in the right mode and turned on. Launch the application.

    All the best,

    Tom
