Make a new project. Drag the Favorites bin into the Browser of the new project. Save the project on a jump drive.

Press the Escape key when you get the error message and see if that gets past it.

FCE defaults to opening the last project. If it finds it in the trash it can’t open it. The drive selection problem is a different matter. Check info on the drive. Make sure it is properly formatted Mac OS Extended and that you have read/permission to the drive.

Try uninstalling LT and its support files and preferences. You don’t need to remove the LT media. Then reinstall LT. The project should come in correctly as a direct import into FCE.

The dissolve question, as Walter said, is probably related to not having enough handles for your media.

  • The FCP designation of 3:2 is confusing. They’re the same. The material is actually 4:3. There are no 3:2 television sets. All the 3:2 designation means is that the pixel aspect ratio does not conform to square pixels generating a 4:3 image. A better designation would be

Frame Size: 720×480 NTSC DV (4:3)
Pixel Aspect: NTSC CCIR601 DV (0.9)

The closest thing is a 64 point garbage matte filter, but not a separate pen tool. Plugins can’t add tools. Motion is your best bet.

You mean in Final Cut Pro? There’s no such tool. There is in Motion.

I don’t believe that version of FCP supported Broadcast WAVE files. I don’t think that introduced until 5.1 or later.

Make sure you mixdown the audio before you export, under Sequence>Render Only.
