Unfortunately this has been reported very often. The most common cause seems to be if you create a project with titles in a older version of FCPX and then update the project to a newer version. The titles will always have to re-render. The only solution to this that I have seen is to make a new project in the current version and to re-built the titles using the new new version.

How are you syncing the clips? Using audio sync? Is there sound on all the cameras?

Completely don’t understand why expand video/audio are in two different menus, and why Collapse is where it is and why it isn’t a toggle. The menus in FCP are a real mess. Clip, Modify, and View seem to have functions randomly placed in them.

This doesn’t work for me. I can’t make a compound clip from part of a clip. Just beeps at me. If you open the compound clip in the timeline and export using Cmd-E, the application still exports the entire project that contains the compound clip.

What version are you using? Exporting compound clips worked in the first version, but hasn’t subsequently.

Though they have an iPad version, Avid Studio is as far as I can tell still a Windows only product. At the price point they’re offering it, they could compete seriously with FCP if they put in a few more featured.

Actually no. That’s exactly what Apple is not trying to do. They are trying to build an entirely new paradigm for editing, and are now trying to put back in the ancillary features they couldn’t implement in the first release. If you notice over the course of three revs and nine months development almost nothing has changed on the editing functions themselves. This is not an attempt to get back to FCP7 editing features. I don’t think FCPX will ever edit the way FCP7 did.
