I have had similar situations happen in the past. Usually it was cured by shutting down my computer and then restarting. A simple computer restart doesn’t always work.

Another time it ended up being a corrupted timeline. I created a new timeline, then opened the corrupted timeline and lassoed all the content and copied it to the clipboard, then go to the newly created timeline and paste.

Your timeline may have become corrupted. You can lasso everything on the timeline and copy to the clipboard. Then create a new empty timeline and paste the clipboard contents into the new timeline. If you can add content to the new timeline, then problem solved. Otherwise something else is wrong. I have had the same problem numerous times, and this is always the first thing I try, as it usually works.

There is a list of vendors there. Try another vendor.

You just need to remove the old line break. Place your cursor at the end of the word before the unwanted line break, then hit delete until the next word becomes part of the previous word, then hit the space bar to put a space there.

I hope that makes sense. The line breaks are formatting and are not visible to you, but they are there. I sometimes eliminate and recreate them multiple times before I am happy with the layout on multi-line subtitles.

Go to the Black Magic site and look at the list of resellers:

It doesn’t matter what version the card says it will work on the current version. In the past I purchased a version 12 card from B&H when version 15 was the current version. I am still using that same activation today. I also purchased a Fusion Studio Dongle from B&H last year and it continues to work on all versions of Resolve Studio and Fusion Studio.

My solution was to buy the Fusion Studio Dongle. With the Dongle you can run either or both Fusion Studio and/or Resolve Studio on any computer you plug the Dongle into. You do need to have the software installed, as the Dongle only contains the activation key.

I always blame that sort of thing on Cyber Gremlins, but great that all is working well now.

  • With a static shot, this is fairly easy to do, but I am not sure how to easily describe the process. With motion involved it becomes more complicated, but is the same essential process.

I have to leave this morning, and only have time for a basic description, so please feel free to ask further questions.

You need to make an identical copy of the clip, and place one over the top of the other in the timeline. On the color page, you will need to create an alpha channel for the top clip. Then create your mask on the top clip so the bottom clip is visible in the area you want to manipulate. Then, whatever changes you make on the bottom clip should be visible without effecting the top clip. You will need to play with softening in the alpha window to make it look natural.

When motion is involved, do not make the duplicate clip until you have done all you want to do to the clip. That way, both clips will track when things move.
