How in the heck do you buy DaVinci Resolve Studio?
Posted by Jeremy Garchow on February 10, 2021 at 4:14 pmI want to finally purchase the studio version for greater than 4k footage handling. B&H doesn’t offer v16 Activation Cards. Amazon (?) shows 2 copies avails. I guess I could buy it from the AppStore, but is that wise? Not sure what to do here.
Thanks!

February 10, 2021 at 4:22 pmVersion 17 is still in Beta. I’m assuming you could purchase it directly from Blackmagic once it’s officially released. You could contact them directly for version 16.

February 10, 2021 at 4:26 pmIt literally says “Find reseller” on their website. Can’t buy direct.

February 10, 2021 at 4:36 pmIt doesn’t matter what version the card says it will work on the current version. In the past I purchased a version 12 card from B&H when version 15 was the current version. I am still using that same activation today. I also purchased a Fusion Studio Dongle from B&H last year and it continues to work on all versions of Resolve Studio and Fusion Studio.

February 10, 2021 at 6:31 pmYes, but buying a card right now seems difficult as it’s “out of stock”. Maybe I will try Amazon but that seems a bit weird.

February 10, 2021 at 7:18 pmGo to the Black Magic site and look at the list of resellers:

February 10, 2021 at 9:09 pmI understand. And then you do that, and you get a version of this:

February 11, 2021 at 3:51 amJeremy at the moment they are giving away the Studio license with the little edit panel. So you basically get the edit panel for nothing if you want to buy the license. The license can be an activation or a usb dongle and it automatically works with all version of Resolve. I am still using my original dongle bought when I was using version 8 and it will work with 17 when I upgrade soon. I wouldn’t get it via the app store. Better to have it direct. I could have sold you a spare which came with my latest Ursa Mini camera but I just sold it yesterday for half price

February 11, 2021 at 2:18 pmYes. I can’t buy the edit panel either as it’s all out of stock. Oh well, I figured another way around it.
Sorry I missed your extra copy! That would have been perfect.

April 1, 2021 at 3:42 pmBought my DR17 in mid Nov 2020 from B & H photo. I received the software in the mail within the week. My edit controller finally arrived today Mar 31, 2021.
