    Martin,
First, I assume, that you have used DVDA3 successfully before. Right?
Other than the suggestions already made, I’d check out the cooling fins on your processor by opening the computer case and looking. There have been various strange crashes reported with both Vegas and DVDA due to overheating processors.

    Dan,
First, I am assuming you are using DVDA v3. Also, for the layered PSD files to work correctly, you need to be on v3.0c.

Having said that, there is a very strict naming convention you must follow when creating the button layers.

You need, at a minimum, button-01-thumbnail and button-01-highlight.

All of this is explained very clearly in the online help for DVDA – Layered Grpahics Files.

    Mark,
This sort of thing has been discussed in other fora, but if your computer overheats, what you are seeing is a symptom.

If you are comfortable doing this, open your box and take a look at the heatsink on top of the processor. If there is a lot of grunge in the fins, likely overheasting is your problem.

Clean up regularly and you won’t have these problems.

  • Margie,
The elements for the CD design used in the EPSON CD print s/w are right clickable. Choose ‘bring forward’ or ‘send backward’ to arrange the layers to be visible.

    Hi Velma,
If you’re still following this thread – I wouldn’t mind seeing a copy either.

I may need to shoot a bar-mitzvah soon and though I don’t do this as a rule (or for a living), the questionnaire may come in very handy.

    Send it to pauncz[at]attglobal[dot]net.

    TIA,

  • Jack,
The fact that you have VOB files on the DVD implies that the ‘raw’ footage has been processed by some DVD authoring s/w.

To be able to edit, you must first rip the DVD to at least get an AVI wrapper around the material. Then, when it’s brought into the Vegas timeline, you should be able to handle it just like any AVI clip.

I did this for some promotional material where a customer’s commercials were supplied to me as a DVD (it would play in my settop box).

I used Nero Recode and also DVDDecrypt to rip the material. I think I also needed to used TMPGEnc Xpress at some point to re-encode, but I forget. Some of the ripped files would just not play nice with some s/w combos.

    HTH,

    Tom
