Oh my . . . “legacy” is how they describe FCP7 these days? I’m just getting the hang of it!

David, thanks . . . that sounds rather complex and time consuming. In the meantime I’ve discovered a free plug-in — Pan and Zoom by Noise Industries — that may do the trick once I get it figured out.

Steve, thanks. Unfortunately I’ve never used Motion or AE, so I’ll check out your video as a place to start. Meanwhile, I’m looking into a free plug-in “Pan and Zoom” by FxFactory, looks promising.

I think the problem may be that the option is available only when capturing HDV, and my current project is SD — do you know if this might in fact be the issue?

I’m not wanting a new clip for a time code break, but for camera start/stop — but/and hat box is checked anyway.

Neil, eureka, switched to 442LT (didn’t realize it was imbedded in the plugin), absolutely lovely, no stutter, problem solved. Wonderful info and advice, many thanks.

Neil, the Canon plugin list the target format as ProRes 4444 — how does this compare to 422, 422LT etc.? Would i be better off transcoding to 422, and if so, would MPEG stream clip or Compressor be the way to go, or something else?

Also, I am indeed just working on my internal drive on my MB Pro; I’ll move the project over to my external G-drive which I believe is 7200 rpm and see if that helps.
