I have the same problem when using the vignette filter on 1920×1080 clips.
2.8 Octo MacPro with a Radeon HD 2600.

I’m wondering if you have “snapping” enabled? Press the “n” key on the keyboard until the snapping feature is turned off and then try moving your clips around.

Take a look at ebay. There are usually a couple of UVW’s there. You can get an idea of what they might be going for there. Search for both current and past sales.

That would be the “Color Television” graphic on the side of the camera and, obviously, not the WGN part of it.

The only other color bars I can find under the Generators pull down (Bars & Tone>More Bars & Signals) look to be just a set of full frame color bars. No HD 16×9 bars available similar to SMPTE-RP-219. That seems to be the only choice. If you know anyone with a Sony HDXDCam, you could possibly grab a High Rez still from it. The bars from that camera are very similar to what you are looking for.

Hi Tim.
A couple of things you might try. Make sure that you go into Sequence>Settings>Video Processing>Process Maximum White as [Super White]. This should prevent the software from clipping off the top of the white information abd loosing detail whenever you add any kind of a filter to the clip. From here you should be able to use the 3-Way CC to bring the levels under control without clipping the detail out of the whites. I’m guessing that unless the levels from the Sony camera are WAY high, it should work. You can also try the Highlight/Shadow Gamma filter from Too Much Too Soon. It will allow you to adjust the white Gamma without affecting the overall color balance. It’s a free download. TMTS has quite a few useful filters for free. Google TMTS Filter. Lyric Image Controls Shadow/Highlight filter might do the trick as well. Another free filter. -
That’s exactly what I’m going to do. Along with the HD files, they included the same footage only at DV50. I’ll cut the spot in DV50 then Media Mangle it and conform it using the HD files. The drives are holding up but they are working hard.
Time to look at a more robust RAID solution.

Actually that would be six streams of the DV50 version of the footage.
The drives were chugging on only two streams of the HD version.In looking at the footage, I was told that it was DVCPro HD. In fact, it is 10-bit uncompressed at 1920×1080 23.98fps!
“It is??! It’s not supposed to be!…Hmmm” was the response I got back from the producer.Just slightly different data rate than Pro HD…
Fortunately its a mostly single layer, cuts only edit with a graphic tag.
The saga continues…sheesh.

Evening update for Russell:
Got home and stacked six streams of DVCPro HD on a single timeline, scaled the clips down and had no problem playing it back without rendering. The drives seemed to keep up without any problems.
I guess that I underestimated them.

That’s the plan for tonight. I just got the footage delivered yesterday and I copied it over to the RAID. When I opened a clip in QT player, I was surprised that the playback was stalling. That’s what lead to the whole thing. After I found that I had RAIDed the drives incorrectly,(duh) I copied everything off of the RAID onto another drive, stripped the drives together and then this morning I left the machine on to copy the rest of the clips back to the RAID. I’ll look into it more closely tonight when I get back to the project.
