When you created your graphic, did you place (Import) a still or a movie into the project? If so, the error is telling you that LiveType can’t find that element. Did you move it or delete it after saving the LiveType project by chance? If you moved it, just reopen the file in LiveType and it will ask you if you want to find the missing element. Just navigate to the file and click OK and then resave. If you don’t need it and have deleted it, just open the file and delete the track that missing element was on. Then resave the file under the same name. It should now appear in FCP the correct way.

Also make sure that the tiff’s aren’t actually CMYK rather than RGB format.

Is there a trick in Compressor to get it to add Pull Down frames rather than redundant, duplicated frames to scale to the correct frame rate when going from 23.98 to 29.97?

I did already go into Compressor and create a custom preset for downconverting from HD to SD while also letterboxing the file. I went into the various controls and set them to generate the best motion interpolation. (or at least I thought) I see the same problem on the air almost everyday with the motion of software downconverted files juddering. It looks like a cable TV channel that’s time compressing a movie a little too much and taking out too many frames for the sake of speeding up the program. This just the opposite problem with adding too many redundant frames in order to fill in the frame rate difference. I’ll try the Cimema Tools approach tomorrow. I’m going to keep at this until I get good results. This is such a common problem that I can’t believe someone hasn’t already been over this ground before.

Hi Brad.
You should be able to get very close to the “ball park” with your arrangement. There could still be some gamut errors that might not show up in SD, but you’ll be very close. Right now I use an SD Tektronix 1740 looking at SD for my scope. Even though I output some projects in HD, I have to admit that I really don’t have a good way to monitor my HD signal. So far, I’ve had nothing rejected…knock on wood.
PS-If you ever want to get rid of that Videotek unit…

Ultrascope is very cool. It brings out my inner geek. I’ve been looking on-line for a used Videotek rasterizer but this will work just fine as well!
Besides FCP announcements I’m also looking for cost effective RAID options and Video I/O boards. It looks like the AJA LHi will be on the list for sure.
