  • Missing Media In LiveType Files

Posted by Patrick Alsobrook on April 27, 2009 at 6:15 pm

There have been some other posts regarding this problem but they didn’t help me. So, I’m posting the problem again. I just created a background for a project I’m working on and imported it like I always do, except its showing me the “media missing in LiveType File” error message. Usually I only see this when having to reconnect media.

In other threads related to this problem, people mentioned the LiveType.component file. Mine is present in MediaDrive>Library>Quicktime.

I also have the LiveTypeSupport.pkg file present in MediaDrive>Library>Receipts.

Any suggestions as to how to fix this error?

Oh by the way, I’m running Final Cut 6.0.2 and LiveType 2.1.3.
My guess is there was an error with the re-installation we did a couple months ago.

A reinstall is in order, probably. and that just may make things worse. You may have only installed the preview functions but that usually prompts you to load the installation DVDs when starting a render.

all of my actual components are .lttx, .ltob, and some .afp (from 12 inch design) files and they live in the main Library/Application Support/Livetype. without those .lttx files, nothing can be built on the render.

You’ll want to try many different textures and objects to see if theyr’e all busted before you go on a reintall binge.

    Hope you figure it out.

When you created your graphic, did you place (Import) a still or a movie into the project? If so, the error is telling you that LiveType can’t find that element. Did you move it or delete it after saving the LiveType project by chance? If you moved it, just reopen the file in LiveType and it will ask you if you want to find the missing element. Just navigate to the file and click OK and then resave. If you don’t need it and have deleted it, just open the file and delete the track that missing element was on. Then resave the file under the same name. It should now appear in FCP the correct way.

    Tom,
This isn’t an issue of media missing. All my files are in order. FCP just isn’t recognizing them anymore. I guess if I can’t get a working solution for this problem then I will proceed to re-install LiveType in a few days.

I have the same problem here. Livetype and FCPro started exibiting this missing Object and Texture problem a long while ago. I have the latest OS, and app updates. Intel mac.

If I create a project in Livetype, add a texture from the Media Browser, then save the project and import into FCPRO, everthing is there except the texture. Does not matter if it’s in the background or foreground position, nor does the render background pref have any effect.

If I render within Livetype, everthing is fine. But then, the whole point of editable projects living within FCPro is lost…especially helpful for CG based effects.

Having the same problem as Dave Beaty. Has anyone come up with a solution to this, or work-around?

I found that repairing disk permissions seems to fix it, but not permanently. You may find that it works until Final Cut Pro crashes again, but I did a repair and they started working for a while, then just stopped.

Somehow FCP is losing the permission to access the texture files or something like that, as far as I can tell.
