May I also suggest wind protection for your lavs !. and I mean not just the little foam pop that usally comes with them. They do make a fur now to cover lavs, they are not the prettiest thing , but they do work. even the slightest breeze will hurt your audio outside.
Also when you do get your setup by all means practice using the gear before they day of the wedding. And practice outside In this business if something will go wrong it will.
Even if you take all the precautions you still may get the groom sniffling or his heavy breathing after he holds his breath for a minute cause he is so nervious !

No offense here intended but I think you answered your own question. You get what you get off the camera. As far as lighting you get what you see, go to rehersal if it is dark it is going to record dark. Try to talk to them to keep the lights up.
Audio recorded by the camera mic ? good luck. will probally record terribly. I did a 3 camera shoot last week, took a feed from their board, really the best way to go.
I also run my audio into a mixer, then I have control with the mixer and do not have to touch and bump the camera riding audio levels

Try your setup before you go out with it and you will see the problems of placing the shotgun on camera. Even a shotgun should be placed as close to talents mouth as possible. And a shotgun might not be the best possible choice for shooting interiors, too much reflections off hard surfaces

Just a thought here. As you do your editing you will find that the most common things used are a stright cut or dissolve !

I have used the Mac Book Pro since last April. Mainly cause my work is on the road and have limited time to finish the project. I have the firt 17 inch model,not the new dual core 2. maxed to 2 gig of ram. I of course use a portable ext drive for the media. everything has worked fine for me. Plan on getting a desktop for home in the future. Only concern about the laptop, boy she gets hot, I do use a small raised laptop stand that helps with the heat issue. From what i undersrand about 2nd monitors , yes you can even the 30 inch.

The main reason I like to see the script is what kind of shot is it , ext , int. How many people do I hav to pick up ? one , two fifteen in a room ?

Just to support Ty’s advice here. I never have met the man in person. Have talked with him on the phone. He knows the business. I needed help with mic selection a year ago. His advice was golden, best money I ever spent, My quality went up , the people I was freelancing for were very happy with the final product. I won’t mention the brand names of the product but I love the “S” Have really learned people can live with up and won’t really complain about a little bump or flaw in the video, but 1 second of bad audio , it really stands out.

Just to add to this for you Richard. I am located in Chicago and have seen the ads on Craiglist. Seems to me they are placed by young people stating out or still in college thinking they have the next geat script. Saying they have no money or budget. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against young people, I was young once too. If i wanted something, I worked for it, worked at jobs I really didn’t like to pay for what I wanted. If I see a script I like I may decide to help out, I tell them, next time I will give you my rates. there are some serious people out there with good scripts and there are others like who called me last week, wanting rates, and to find out they don’t even have a script or location. Now before I give rates I ask to see a script. Don’t get fustrated, there is good work out there , just have to find the correct people. Good luck As far as craig list goes I don’t have a lot of faith in it
