My output looks great on the mini also. Will Media Composer 5.5 let the Mini see 24PN footage?

Patrick, thanks for the tip. I had thought about the HD pro mounted to the skids. How did you mount?

One issue for me is, I’m along for the ride. I won’t be able to ask the pilot to fly and my speed. (I’m not paying he pilot)

Carlos, I export quicktime h264 for client approval and viewing. I shoot in 720, so I export 1280×720. 2 minutes at H264 (depending on your computer) should take 10-15 minutes, it does on my mac pro. h264 makes a nice picture at fairly low data rates.

What codec is you footage in, HDV?

Just upgraded today from MC3.5. SD projects work fine, but P2 720PN projects giving me ‘access violation’ error. I see the media in the bin, but won’t play in the timeline

Thanks Michael. Have you thought about spending the $ for the Mojo DX? Would be nice to be able to monitor HD, but it sounds like that really all it does.
Also did you upgrade from Xpress Pro? If so, any problems upgrading? all the old projects still there?

I load my P2 footage onto a hard drive. Connect the HD to my PC and open AVID (make sure you set the correct project type, in my case we shoot 720p/23.976)
In the file menu, go down to ‘import P2’ and then ‘clips to bin’ Choose your HD with the media on it.

You should see your footage in your bin. The footage is in DVCpro HD. If you want to make things run faster, ‘transcode’ the media to DNxHD (AVIDs HD codec) My machine runs much better with DNxHD media. The quality is still high, fine for rough cutting.

I am still using AVID Xpress Pro HD and have been shooting 720p on the 200 on the P2 cards. Ingesting the media is no problem. Output to QT is easy, output to tape/DVD is not. Are you useing a mojo? If so which one?
