Thanks Chris.
I’ll give that a shot.

hmmmm. I would go with filter>extract and then select>refine edge. Apparently the new cs5 has a great-er refine edge tool.
There are other ways, but I’ve had the best results with this. -
You can save out a separate file with just the bag, call this bag_distort.psd for example. Then take the pattern image and drag it over your bag in your “active” file, selecting that patterned layer, go to- filter>distort>displace -and browse to bag_distort.psd. Make sure that both files are exactly the same size. You’ll have to tweak the setting a bit, but this should get you close. The way it was done in Maya (most likely based on your description), was by projecting it onto an object.

Thanks for the response Scott.
I don’t think I was specific enough with my question. If I have a clip and want to adjust the contrast and color, I’m going to
effect>video filters>image control>LEVELS
What I get is some sliders that affect, Input, Input tolerance, gamma, output, output tolerance. In AfterEffects, you get a histogram with sliders, which I prefer. I know I can export to AE and reimport, but I was hoping that I could get a histogram in the levels correction in FCP.
Does that make sense?Thanks again,

Fadi,
When you’re working with the layers in Photoshop, just make sure that it has no background layer and that everything is transparent other than you character. You should see a checkerboard pattern around your character in PS, signifying transparency.

Hi Dave,
With the animation codec you are going to get huge files especially if it’s 10 minutes worth.
Choosing a compression scheme depends a lot of what you are going to be showing it on and for what. Are you just trying to see it to “check the results” of your tutorial? If so, you could try rendering it with the h.264 codec. That will be a bit leaner. However if you want it to be seen by a lot of different people on different platforms then I would recommend going with something else, perhaps a .flv for flash.
Good luck,

OK, well, not great news for me. It is a type 2 avi after all.
I can’t save it in any other format because I can open it in any software other than Windows Media Player. One other possibility is that I only have 1.5 gigs of RAM. Tomorrow I’m order more.
Thanks for the responses and if there are any other idea let me know. I’ll post the results when I get more ram.

Thanks for the help so far all,
Eddy Yes. It is uncompressed to retain as much quality as possible.
I have some things I’m going to check tonight:

Hi Eddie,
I never knew there were two types…errggg
How can I get that information? Is it embedded in the file somewhere, properties? Also, if it is in fact type 1, is there a work around. It’s tough to convert a file if you can’t even see it.
Thanks in advance,
Tom -
Yes, it is massive. It’s uncompressed. I did a test with a 4gig sample and it worked OK. Obviously, no where near as big as this. Do you think that is why only a portion is coming in Jon?
