Thanks Floh. I think I will go with the Grass Valley unit.

Floh – I just found a Grass Valley product the something -50 that converts HDMI to firewire HDV. I think this will work for me.
    Thanks

Floh – Will the AJA Hi-5 mini converter work? It is SDI to HDMI and there’s a downloadable software program for it.

    Hi Floh,
I can’t use a card because I have either an iMac or a MacBook Pro. So if I buy the Matrox box, I input SDI or HDMI into it and when it outputs HDMI into the MacBook, Media100 will allow input that way? It just turns on automatically? Why will it not work directly from the camera? I don’t get it…. Oh – Or is it because of the supplied software that comes with the Matrox that turns it on?

Thanks, I figured that out but it still didn’t work for some odd reason. Then I downloaded a free trial of FCP-X and it started working. Go figure.

Hi. On the AJA website, it shows that T-Tap is not supported for Media 100. Has anyone actually used T-Tap with Media100 and been successful? Also the mini monitor from Black Magic is $155 cheaper. Has anyone tried that? Looks like the same box. Thanks.

Floh…will the Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini Monitor unit work with Media100. It’s $100 cheaper for the same result?

Thanks, Ron. Nice stuff. Where is this place? So many kinds of birds and hawks and owls. Cool.

Thanks, again, Ron… I have a client that wants to see all the raw footage I shoot, so rather than having to ingest all of it and then compress it, I can give him the card with the web ready file and I won’t have any other extra work to do. Let me know when you post some footage. – Tom

Thanks, Ron. That is helpful. Have you gotten used to having no stops on the barrel? That seems awkward.
    1. I was wondering about the quality of the SD footage… is it as sharp as a regular SD camera?
    2. The file that can be internet-ready…does it work seemlessly with YouTube?(Not sure if the 600 has this feature. The 650 does.)
Thanks again. It is difficult to get reviews on this camera. I like the 650 because I do a lot of VNRs and in my town there are three stations all with different formats.
