    Flo
I need DV tapes for the other two stations, or I might be able to give them files on a DVD. I haven’t asked them if they can take a file. I just want the resulting conversions from HD to look good and I haven’t yet found the best way to do that. And, of course, I need it fast. What is the best way to get 1. good color and 2. sharpness with the 3. correct aspect ratio from the HD timeline to DV format without using hardware? I guess that’s my question. One station uses 16×9 DV; the other uses 4×3.
To create the tapes, I normally play a timeline in “Master to tape” to a Sony 1500. Thanks. Tom

On another note, not to complicate things, but I have yet to solve another problem I have: The HD TV Station can’t read my HD files that I put on DVD for them. Their edit computers are PCs and for some odd reason, mine and all others who edit on Macs, can’t be read on their computers. I’ve tried various .MOV flavors, but none work for them. Have you ever heard of that happening?

This is why I’ve surrendered and gone back to shooting on DV. It’s a drag.

Thanks, Nick. That helps a bit. But when I’m sending out five minute segments it takes time. The turn around on these is very fast(2 hours). For the time being, I am going to stick with shooting in DV and have the HD station do the up-rez. The video looks better on the DV stations when I output to DV tape.

Thanks, Floh. The guys at Media 100 figured it out for me. There was a corrupted file in my Quicktime folder that was messing things up. All is good now.

I’ve had the same problem. I am using a Sony V1 camera as a feeder deck trying to digitize HDV into the latest version of Producer and keep getting the same message: “Temporary loss of sync”. I gave up. Too frustrating. Had to go back to Final Cut. I was told I would get a refund for my upgrade, but it hasn’t happened. This is my second post to you. Are things slower now with the Cow? My first post didn’t show up.

I had the same problem with my Sony V1 camera as feeder deck. Couldn’t figure it out. Gave up. Matt at Media 100 said my G5 was too slow. Anyway, I gave up using Producer for HDV even though Media 100 said it would work. I was supposed to get a refund for the upgrade, but it hasn’t happened. Not very happy.

    Dave,
I’ve got a Sony V1 and am using the HDMI connector to view footage. would love to be able to have an HDMI input to the Media100

  • Jim,
I upgraded to Media 100 Vers 8.2.1 and voila, everything works again!! Yea! Thanks for your concern.

  • No HD. I’m still using Media 100i 8.2. The speed is very fast. The crashes are happening whenever I have to render a clip or transition….My Quicktime version is still 6.4. So it’s not the QT 7 problem either. Still no luck figuring it out. Any other ideas?

  • Also, I noticed in AE on the same computer I was able to render to Animation but when I tried to render to the Media100 codec it crashed in a similar way. Must be something going on with the Media100 codec?? I think the problem is more with the upgrade of the OS rather than the SATA drive. Any thoughts?
