  • i’m using an AMD Phenom II – Six Core (x6 1055t) 2.80GHz with just 4gb of ram.
windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium.
it plows through any rendering job like a mr. plow through two feet of snow.

thanks john. i originally tried the 30 template — same problem.
(i thought perhaps i was over-taxing the system).
think an upgrade to 10 is worth a shot?

    intel iyuv
    microsoft 1
    indeo 5.1

assuming you’re using a windows machine, you can also right click on the file, select ‘open with,’ then select 9.

    nigel,
that was a very thoughtful response and i truly appreciate it.
funny how we seem to head to video for just about everything (and i do for vegas techniques all the time).
can’t imagine why i never thought of doing so for this project.
    thanks again.

August 11, 2010 at 3:20 pm in reply to: Black Screen Preview – Clip Problem

curious if you have tried to render the area that goes black.
i had this problem in “preview” — and discovered it was related to the great amount of cpu strength vegas was using up. when i rendered that area, it rendered fine.
my solution was (and is) to shut down all other non-essential processes when i run vegas (even my anti-virus).
    hope this helps.

August 9, 2010 at 5:08 pm in reply to: Audio question

did you save the project after deleting the audio file? if not, close it and open it back up without saving.
you could also try to open the backup file although that file does seem to autosave changes in real time.
by default, your backup files are in your application data folder: Local Settings\Application Data\Sony\Vegas Pro\9.0\
it saves them as veg files.

what did you use to change the audio files? perhaps that program has backup files you might be able to restore.

    good luck.

August 6, 2010 at 3:31 am in reply to: capturing clips from DVD

i use movavi — they have a split tool that allows you to edit the clips you want out of the larger file. works like a charm.
    https://www.movavi.com/

it’s still labor intensive — but if you’re only extracting a few small clips, it would be faster than the 20 or so you’re waiting now.
    hope this helps.
