Associating Files
Posted by Roger Bansemer on October 20, 2010 at 5:01 pmBy associating the Vegas 10 files by using this message below, will that prevent me from opening the project in Vegas 9?

October 20, 2010 at 5:22 pmRoger, that only means that if you double-click on a veg file in a folder, the project will open in Pro 10 as opposed to whatever version was used to create it.
It shouldn’t stop you from opening it in the original version either. After installing a new version, it’s always a good idea to rename old projects to reflect the version that they were created in so that you don’t accidentally save over them with a newer version, thereby preventing you from opening it with the older version.

October 20, 2010 at 5:27 pmNo. It just means that when you double-click on a veg file, Windows starts Vegas Pro 10 and open the veg project.
If you need to open a Version 9 project, just double click on the Pro 9 icon – not the veg file, then drag the veg file to the blank project.
You should probably back up your V9 veg files because when you save a project from V10, you can’t open it again in V9.
FWIW – I installed V10 in mid project, I have that much confidence in my PC and in Sony Vegas, and I am quite pleased with the performance and feature improvements.

October 20, 2010 at 5:52 pmassuming you’re using a windows machine, you can also right click on the file, select ‘open with,’ then select 9.
